DEMOUNTABLE CONCEPTS RECENTLY INTRODUCES THE TRUCKCONTAINER SYSTEM - December 17, 1999
Demountable Concepts, Inc. (DCI), of Glassboro, NJ, has recently introduced the "TruckContainer". This is a hybrid of DCI's proven TruckTainer hydraulic demountable body system; a system that enables truck bodies to be easily mounted and demounted from a straight truck chassis.
The TruckContainer enables an operator to mount or demount a standard 20' ISO shipping container onto or off of a standard straight truck. A standard container is twist-locked to a specialized DCI Adaptor Frame. This frame includes built in retractable legs, a guiding system and locking bars to match the truck-locking system. The straight truck is outfitted with DCI's Chassis Lift system. This combination of equipment enables an operator to safely and simply demount a 20' container at dock height.
Since pre-owned ISO containers are readily available and inexpensive, an operator can have multiple units for specialized uses. Containers can be outfitted for specialized jobs including workshops, generator stations or storage units. A moving company in Michigan recently implemented the TruckContainer system. This allows customers the option of self-loading or unloading at their convenience and frees up the truck chassis for other jobs.
According to Frank Fisher, President of Demountable Concepts, Inc., "The possibilities and uses are endless and limited only by a user's imagination and the gross vehicle weight of their truck."
The system has a standard capacity of 12 tons and can be upgraded to 15 tons for tandem-axle trucks with PTO hydraulics. The ISO container is not altered in any way and can be moved by more traditional means when not being used with the demountable system.
This system is expandable so that once a container is demounted; the truck can pick up a TruckTainer Flatbed or Van Body. Switching bodies takes only three-to-five minutes. Demountable Concepts, Inc. offers demonstrations in many areas.
