Home Lumber & Supply Eliminates the Need for Half of Their Drivers by Working with the Demountable System

For the past few years, Dewey Halvarson, Warehouse Manager of Home Lumber & Supply, in Littleton CO, has worked with Demountable Concepts, Inc. to deliver his lumber products faster and more efficiently with half the amount of trucks.

Prior to being introduced to the demountable truck body system, Dewey had twenty trucks, with a driver for each truck. He was wasting money on excess trucks and drivers that he didn't need. When asked what his biggest problem was between the two, he said, “My biggest problem was the fact that I couldn’t find enough drivers. The Demountable System has helped me cut my driver pool in half.”

Dewey further stated, “When the Demountable System was implemented, we were also able to reduce our fleet size at this location by half. Our new fleet now consists of approximately ten trucks with twenty demountable bodies."

The Demountable System allows Home Lumber & Supply to have ten dependable drivers that they pool from the area directly around them. Operating fewer trucks with multiple bodies has resulted in much lower equipment costs. Insurance, maintenance, registrations and fuel costs have been greatly reduced. Furthermore the ability to pre-load free standing bodies enables Home Lumber & Supply to provide outstanding service to their customers.
